Andreas Ehstand
Understand how you think — and you'll understand how you play.
Supported by performance factor analysis in sport through artificial intelligence
Coach with university teaching experience and AI researcher in one: founder of the AUGMANITAI research practice, studying how people and organisations think, learn and work with artificial intelligence.
What a documented analysis makes visible: 3 to 5 named, measurable factors of a player's game — and the structured work that builds on them.
Every credential on this page is named and dated at its issuing organisation — documented, not asserted.
Andreas Ehstand combines twenty-five years of international coaching — twenty of them with sports-science methodology, with stints in professional sport — with empirical-methodological training.
Career stations include the Institute for School Development Research (IFS) at TU Dortmund (research associate) and the University of Bayreuth (state examination in German, Sport and Computer Science, 2011; research associate and lecturer).
Coaching experience
Twenty-five years of international coaching experience in tennis, padel and pickleball — in elite sport since 2013. Coach up to the 2nd German tennis Bundesliga · individually coached players up to the Tennis Bundesliga. Stations include the USA, Austria, Qatar and Dubai as well as, nationally, Bavaria, Hamburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Schleswig-Holstein and Baden-Württemberg.
Focus of the work
Performance factor analysis — the systematic breakdown of complex performance into nameable, measurable components.
Applied in documented training progressions (individual and group), in association and club work, and in long-term performance development.
Behind this lies the same core idea as in Andreas Ehstand's AUGMANITAI research: a state you can clearly name becomes a state you can steer. On court, that means breaking technique and tactics into single, nameable factors instead of training on vague gut feeling. A nameable factor can be as concrete as the grip angle on the forehand, the timing of the split step, or the decision time on a return.
Performance factor analysis for tennis, padel, pickleball and golf.
Academic background
State examination (Staatsexamen) in German, Sport and Computer Science at the University of Bayreuth (2011). Research associate and lecturer at the University of Bayreuth (sports didactics, 2011–2012) and at TU Dortmund (Institute for School Development Research, 2012–2013). Certificate in Higher-Education Teaching, Bavaria (2012). Teaching experience at universities in sport pedagogy, general pedagogy, didactics and performance factor analysis.
This academic training at two universities is the basis for performance factor analysis. Observations are measured, compared and checked systematically. In practice, video analysis and measured values help decide what should be trained next.
International references (sport)
Holder of the Toni Nadal Excellence Certificate (2018), issued by World Mastery. Personal professional recognition from, among others, an Olympic athlete of 2024 and a former association coach in golf; alongside general expert voices on scientific training from Tomáš Šmíd and Hernan Flores. The GPTCA/ISMCA coach education was completed with Alberto Castellani in 2019.
Former association coach in golf: “In his coaching work, he distinguished himself through his passionate, competent and motivating manner of passing on his expertise to his players. From my point of view, what was striking was his extraordinary didactic skill as well as his positive way of communicating.”

Coach qualifications
Andreas Ehstand
Co-author of the technique and tactics chapters and interviews in the book “Faszination Padel” (Der Sportverlag, 2024).
Qualifications listed on this page
Two things are documented here, each in its own register: the coaching qualifications below are training stations named by their issuing organisations (World Mastery, GPTCA, Bayerischer Tennis-Verband) — and the name "License of Clarity" is legally protected as a registered EU trademark (EUIPO, since May 2025).
To be precise: ORCID is a scientific identifier for the research and publication record of Andreas Ehstand — it documents research identity, not coaching licenses. The coaching qualifications below are documented by their own issuing organisations, not via ORCID. The registered EU trademark "License of Clarity" (EUIPO, since May 2025) protects the name legally — it says nothing about coaching skill.

What this research is about
What this research is about
The documented cases come from high-performance racket sport: — competition and association level — technique development over longer periods of time — sport-science contexts at universities and colleges The focus is on high-performance racket sport, not on beginners.
